Three Ball Incentive Spirometer For lung Exercise<\/h3>\n

User Instruction:<\/strong><\/p>\n

An incentive spirometer is a medical device that helps patients improve the function of their lungs and an effective tool to prevent pulmonary complications.
\nAfter surgery that affects the respiratory function, especially surgery to the lungs, such as abdominal surgery the device assists in respiration. It is also commonly prescribed for post-operative cardiac patients, or other surgery involving extra time under anesthesia and subsequent recovery.<\/p>\n

The incentive spirometer also minimizes the chance of fluid build-up in patients recovering from rib damage. You may also teach patients how to use the devices on their own as they prepare to leave the hospital.<\/p>\n

1. Sit on the edge of your bed if possible, or sit up as far as you can in bed.<\/p>\n

2. Hold the incentive spirometer in an upright position.<\/p>\n

3. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and seal your lips tightly around it.<\/p>\n

4. Breathe in slowly and as deeply as possible. Allow the first ball in the
\n600cc chamber to rise to the top; the other two balls still at the bottom.<\/p>\n

5. Enhance your breath, allow the second ball in the 900cc chamber to rise to the top; the third ball still at the bottom.<\/p>\n

6. Keep enhancing your breath; allow all three balls to rise to the top.<\/p>\n

7. Hold your breath as long as possible. Then take out the mouthpiece and exhale slowly and allow the balls to fall to the bottom of the column.<\/p>\n

8. Rest for a few seconds and repeat steps one to seven at least 10 times every hour.<\/p>\n

9. After each set of 10 deep breaths, cough to be sure your lungs are clear.
\nIf you have an incision, support your incision when coughing by placing a pillow firmly against it.
